September 2023 Flower Show
The September Flower Show takes place at our monthly meeting held on September 18. Entry time is 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
Judging begins at 7:30 p.m. sharp. Maximum of one entry per class per entrant. Listed below are the categories for the show.
SECTION A – CUT SPECIMENS
- Aster (perennial), 1-3 sprays
- Clematis, 1 stem
- Coleus, 3 stems of one cultivar
- Coleus, 3 cultivars, one stem each cultivar
- Dahlia, cactus, 1 bloom
- Dahlia, decorative, 1 bloom
- Dahlia, any other kind, 1 bloom
- Marigold, 3 blooms
- Petunia, 3 sprays
- Rose, hybrid tea, 1 bloom
- Rose, full blown, 1 bloom
- Rose, polyanthus,1 stem
- Rose, any kind not listed above, 1 stem
- Salvia, 3 spikes
- Sedum, large-headed, 1 head
- Sedum, small-headed, 1 head
- Seed pod or head, ripened naturally on natural length of stem, 1 stem
- Zinnia, 1 bloom
- Any other annual, perennial, etc not listed, 1 stem
- Any other annual, perennial, etc not listed, 3 stems of the same kind
- Collection of ornamental grasses, or glrass-like plants, 3-5 cultivars, 1 stem each
- Collection of flowers, 3 or more kinds
SECTION B – HOUSE PLANTS
- Herb(s), in 1 pot, up to 3 kinds, must be named
- House plant, foliage, 1 pot
- House plant, flowering, 1 pot
SECTION C – FRUITS & VEGETABLES
- Mixed vegetables on an 8" max plate
- Herbs, up to 5 varieties, displayed in water, must be named
- Any fruit, 1 to 3 on an 8-inch max plate
SECTION D – DESIGN CATEGORIES
September Design Theme: "Places & Meetings"
- Wonderland - a foliage design incorporating wood
a) Experienced exhibitors
b) Novice exhibitors (A person who has not yet won a first-place ribbon in a design category at an EYGC flower show.)
- Mouse in the Pool of Tears - a water viewing design
- Tweedledum & Tweedledee - a parallel design
- Caterpillar - a small design incorporating mushrooms (14 cm-25.4 cm)
- Humpty Dumpty – a dried miniature design (maximum dimensions 12.7 cm)
